Today we had fantastic conditions all along the reef line. The following conditions were reported
Duane/Bibb 100 feet viz no current
Spiegal Grove 130 feet viz no current
Molasses reef 60-80 feet viz light current.
We dove an inshore reef and had about 30-40 feet viz Hens and Chickens
We saw a few turtles, 4 tarpon circling us for awhile, nice school of spadefish.
Took pix of the little fellas hope they came out and will post if so.
Today seems to be a repeat of yesterday (TODAY
VARIABLE WINDS 5 TO 10 KNOTS. SEAS AROUND 1 FOOT. NEARSHORE
WATERS SMOOTH TO A LIGHT CHOP)
Just be careful on the surface yesterday the boaters and pwcs thought a dive flag is a checkered flag!

The tarpon pix was just to show the size of these monsters

nice pix. we dove the aquarius reef base(conch reef) this morning, light current and green water, viz only 40-45FT @ 65FT(worst ive ever encountered there), followed by molasses south end, M19, blue water, viz 80FT degrading to 40FT by the end of the dive(outgoing tide). we cruised over snapper ledge on the way to conch this AM and viz appeared to be around 40FT, green water. yesterday @ deep molasses and M25 we had 100+ viz, best ive seen all year. dove with OD the past 6 days and finding good viz, with the exception of yesterday, has been a challenge,,,,,,,,,
Nice pics Walter. Love Hens & Chickens. Don't get to dive it that much anymore. Did my second night dive there back in 78. Toom my ex-wife there for her first night dive. Both times we were the only boat in sight.

Did you like the Aquarius? We did it years ago and loved it.(saw a school of squid there)
Nice work DT. Really like the shrimp and spadefish.
Reefman is with Steve F all week, so I did 2 on the Eagle today, 40-ish viz, light current. Went with Conch Republic. Nice day on the water. Big hawksbill. Others saw 2 big goliath grouper deeper than I wanted to go.

fun dive, NASA astronauts were saturating inside the habitat today which provided a window to dive this AM. lots of fish today, however, again, the viz sucked. they've had blue water and 80-100FT viz the past 3 days but not today. the future(funding issues) of the aquarius will be discussed live @ 6 PM tonite on KEYS 100.3 FM @ buzzards roost(timg might yak a bit!)!!!!!!!!!!
No time yesterday due to Aquarius meeting. We had a great session on Thunder Country 100.3, almost a full hour to talk about what we are doing. Stay tuned, the July mission is going to rock! Sylvia Earle is one of the aquanauts, we will be shooting 3D Imax and bringing in some really interesting visitors. I will post more as I get more info.
