viz again reported below average on the outer reefs in the upper keys this AM(35-40 FT @ molasses, green), so we elected to double on the grove(considered the duane, 36 mix ruled that out, heard the viz was well in access of 100 FT today!). zero wind, < 1ft seas , sunshine. 1st dive: minimal current, blue water, viz 60-80FT, water temp 82-83F @ max depth 98FT. 2nd: current picked up to mdt NE, green water moved in, viz a weak 40-45FT, water temp a variable often chilly 80-82F @ max 88FT. both dives on buoy S5(portside crane). nice dives, ocotopus on the aft bridge connecting to the portside crane. timg captured the subjects,,,,,,,,,,,,
Nice dive, great shots Tim. I look forward to every reefman/timg installment, thanks. I've got to get back to the Spiegel Grove soon, have not been to Key Largo for 3 years.
What a great team! I have only been on scubaboard about a week, and I already enjoy your posts/photos so much. Have shared them with my husband as well. Let's us know what we have to look forward to in the keys next year. (We're SO jealous that you live there!)
You guys do a great job---I look forward to more photos!

Good diving, Craig
Thank you scubadada, awlilley John and nimoh!
Spiegel is a great dive, and we only did the sections from the cranes to the superstructure. Plenty more to see on it. Reefman always find good subjects. Spiegel had it's 10th anniversary last May, and is maturing into a spectacular artificial reef.
Octopus was walking around on one of the crane sections, Reefman found it. That's the first one I have seen on the SG.
One of the things I enjoy most at the end of the dive day is sending photos to Reefman to post with his reports. And I always am interested in feedback from other divers!

thanxs. i was always reluctant to post trip reports in the past without photos, especially 2-4 times a week. every picture tells a story and timg is the only photographer i dive with(nearly all of my dive buddies are shooters, i'm not, althought i'm contemplating purchasing a gopro video rig in the near future) willing to share his pics on scubaboard. our group will send me photos of our dives but prefer they are not disseminated for public viewing,,,,,,,,,
