joined friends on their vessel for a dive on the duane this morning, however, no buoys available, so on to the closet reef, molasses. stellar topside conditions: no wind, flat seas, warm sunny skies. dive #1, M28: strong reverse current, snowy blue water, viz 40 FT, 79/80F @ 50-95FT, ho hum dive, not so good. moved shallow for # 2, buoy M20(fire coral cave/permit ledge, pillar coral). zero current, dusty green viz 40+FT, 80F @ 20-30FT. nice, relaxing, fishy dive. these pics provided by timg,,,,,,,,,,,,

Wow, reef shots 5,6, 9, and 15 particularly make me want to be there. It's a long way from Switzerland, pictures will have to do for the next month or so, thanks

Good diving, Craig

Reefman, What are some of the lesser know areas to dive off Key Largo that are not frequented by dive charter boats?

Did the Bib have open buoys?

the carysfort sanctuary preservation area(especially south carysfort) and carysfort trench would be my # 1 choice followed by the deeper buoys @ molasses SPA and elbow SPA. watsons reef a few miles north of the elbow is also a good choice(no mooring buoys) and finally the deep wall @ the southern end of Biscayne NP(northern boundary of the FKNMS, far north key largo) extending from the whistle buoy to pacific reef(light), 50 to 95FT. countless other non buoyed sites too numerous to mention,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,as a side note, quiescence diving services has probably the most extensive list of off the beaten path dive sites in their inventory of any key largo dive operator,,,,,,,,

the bibb is infrequently visited by divers and has 2 buoys, stern(south) and midships. btw the way the duane has 3 buoys not 2 as depicted in the image,,,

I have not heard of "the aquarium" either. Where is that located?
