I heard a report that the Keys was being invaded by some mysterious "black water", resulting in low visibility. Does anyone have any details on this?

is that it was diatomic algae that was triggered by excess rain run off in a high silicate region. Apparently, it was quite natural and not a man induced phenomenon at all. While it appeared to be "black" from the vantage points in space, it was more of a green brown when viewed from a boat. It was not attibuted to any pollution and while fish seem to avoid it, there only seems to be some minor damage done to sponges. I heard this on a radio program last Thursday, and although I could give you the station, I could not give the name of the show, though one of the speakers was represented as being in charge of the Everglades water district down there.
