Improvised foot pocket insert

I'm wondering if anyone has successfully improvised a foot pocket insert for your Force Fins. I use XXL with my drysuit boots and find they fit a little loose, and with the Comfort Instep they fit tight, so I was thinking of improvising an insert that's thinner to get the fit just right.

I've heard of someone cutting apart a cheap pair of fins (cheap, because they are thin and flimsy) so you wind up with a foot pocket you insert over your boot.
