What exactly is a SP fitting? Can you show me a picture of it? I have an IP gauge that connects to the lp hose.

QD fittings for use with BC's are now standard (except for a seaquest fitting) and brand does not matter.

Scubapro uses a proprietary fitting on their Air 2.

Prior to the early 1980's Scubapro used a prprietary fitting on their BC's.

So whihc of the three options do you need?

The Dive Alert site has a pretty clear description of which combo octo/inflators use which fitting.

Regular old LPI hoses, of all brand regulators and BCDs are interchangeable.

Combo inflators/octo devices are different, and come in two flavors:
The ScubaPro Air 2, Tusa Duo-Air & Atomic SS1 are one type.
SeaQuest AirSource, Zeagle Octoplus, Beauchat Venturi, U.S. Divers Air Mic & Oceanic Air XS use the other non-standard LPI connection.

LPI Connections -- 3 types

I want to put in on a seperate hose to connect to my first stage, as needed to check the IP after service. I do not plan to connect it to my BC. Thank you.

The most common IP gauges do not screw in directly to the regulator, but instead plug into the quick disconnect of the LPI hose that would normally be connected to a BC. Your regulator most likely has that hose attached already.

The simplest solution is to use an IP gauge that plugs into a low pressure hose BC quick disconnect fitting.

It is pretty simple to make one with a regular auto parts or hardware store compressor gauge (under $15.00) a 1" or 2" nipple (1/4 NPT female to 1/4 NPT female) from a hardware or plumping store, and a 1/4 NPT male to BC quick disconnect adapter from your local dive shop. (if they do not have one in stock they can order it from Trident).

You can also get an adapter to go from an Air 2 hose to a BC QD fitting from Trident.

A source for IP gauges is scubatools.com...but more expensive than making your own. Cost around $35 with tax and shipping.
