Hello all,

My wife and I are flying off for two months in Malaysia and Indonesia this July. One of the highlights of this trip being the validation of the two open water dives for our Padi OWD course which we did here in Paris, France.
We're landing in Kuala Lumpur and will be travelling for two full months, so plenty of time to visit places (eyes set on Pulau Sipadan, since we're definetly going to Borneo / Sabah, Pulau Tiomen) and dive regularly once we have our OWD licence.
The certification is something we'd like to do at the begining of our trip.

Still at the planning intinerary stage there are so many great sites it's a little mind boggling...

So far we've got our eyes set on the Gilis in Indonesia for the certification, but since we're arriving in KL in Malaysia, we're not certain of practical this would be. Looks great though, if a little crowded.

Would you have recommendations of good safe places or areas, recommended to finish a PADI certification, where it's also possible to rent all the equipment including dive computers?

And financially is diving in Indonesia a little cheaper than in Malaysia or is it pretty much the same?

Thanks a bunch

ben

We're hesitating between Pulau Weh and the Gilis to get certified. Mixed reviews on both, including a descriptions of some Pulau Weh centers as being downright dangerous, so it's a little difficult to know what to expect...
