My point being... this is a novelty item. A high priced novelty item to boot! It does nothing more than a good buddy team with the proper equipment can accomplish... it's not going to replace any of that.

Bold statements with little to no information on the unit.

The range is almost 1/4 mile.

Buddy separation HAPPENS.

In addition to being a "novelty" - it's a real dive computer, digital compass, and more. While the price may by high, in time I think it will become less expensive? I was impressed with the unit - but I don't have one.

I would suggest you read the product overview. Overview

I wouldn't call it a "novelty" item. It's serious (at least what I saw about it)

For me... It doesn't do multi-gas... and I wouldn't invest in a computer that didn't give me options.

One thing I will say is that the company did a terrible job on the website. You can tell nothing from the pictures and after 3 minutes of looking, I could not find anywhere with a gallery that would show buttons or any useful view of functional parts etc.. I gave up......

Seems interesting, although reading through the overview it doesn't make it clear whether or not the boat unit shows where the divers are, or just transmits where the boat is to the divers. If I were to go with any homing unit, which I'm not going to, but if I were, I'd want the boat unit to be able to direct the boat to me. It wouldn't help if I had directions to the boat, no way to get there (heavy current, exhaustion, etc), and the boat unit didn't display my position to the crew.

Either way, definitely not something I'd buy at any point in the foreseeable future.
