Where's the best place to buy gear in Vancouver, BC?

Hello everyone! I'm flying to Vancouver in about a week to meet my girlfriend and buy her some basic gear. She's taking her open water at the end of March and I was wondering where the best place to buy SCUBA gear is?

    Thanks in advance!

That's a hard question since there are many great shops here amd everyone will have their personal preference. What shop is she taking her lessons at? Most shops offer a discount when you buy gear when you take lessons.

The three places I've had dealings with (everyone else seemed kinda sketchy to me). I'd rent for a while though, not everyone takes well to cold water diving.

If you're comfortable buying used and/or don't want sticker shock when you see the prices in person vs. (online) prices in the States, try craigslist and the Buy and Sell online. As previously stated, not everyone takes to coldwater diving...

Thanks for all the recommendations, I'm taking my course with Ocean Quest Dive Center so we'll probably start there.

That would be a very good choice!
