I know the superlite are more designed towards commercial diving. I'm just curious if anyone has tried any of the superlite helmet for recreational diving with a scuba setup. For example for a 3000psi air tank, how long would the air last approximately?
First a helmet will not be nice to swim, the buoyancy will keep pulling your head up. A commercial diver Works in an upright position not horizontal.
That said, the Superlight has a 2nd valve that is used for a face plate blower for de-fog and can use up a lot of air, you also have to run a bit more air in order to flush the helmet out or you might get a build up of CO2 and one hell of a headache. So, I'd say you will burn through a tank in about 70-80% of the time that standard SCUBA would.
