The reefs off Grand Bahama, at least the Freeport/Lucya area, are DEAD!
Almost no color or fish at most sites.
The wrecks are still good dives and the sharks are still there, but the reefs are in terrible condition. Best reef we did was a snorkeling site that was about 14 feet, best coral and lots of juveniles.
This was our 3rd trip and I doubt if we will go back to dive.
Stayed at the Wyndham Viva Fortune Beach and had a great time!

Hey Capt Hook;

I am surprised to hear you say that. I was there 8/26 thru 09/02. We went by boat and stayed in Pt Lucaya. Most of the diving we did was near Peterson Cay which is just East of Fortune Beach. The areas we dove were quite nice. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience diving there.

I have been wondering how the Wyndham was. We have thought about flying over sometime and staying there.

How were the restaurants, enough choices etc?

Thanks,

TOM
