i know you can't bring firearms into mexico but how about spearguns and pole spears?

This is Mexico, Dave--it's never that simple.

Yes, you can bring both into the country, but must have have a Mexican fishing license in order to use either.

Spearguns can be used only for free diving, not on scuba.

Be aware that some local areas are closed to spearfishing of any sort. Get all the facts before doing anything.
