So thanks to hurricane Wilma, my Cozumel trip is likely down the drain... I'm still itching to get somewhere warm and sunny with fantastic diving for a couple weeks, out of the path of monster storms. Anybody out there have suggestions? I know last minute deals can be awesome if you look in the right place.... I was thinking maybe Bonaire/Curacao, Hawaii or even the South Pacific? Totally depends on prices and availability. Any info would be great! thanks!
We just got back from a week of diving on Curacao. We stayed at Sunset Waters. Its about 40 - 45 minutes from the city. All inclusive with Sunset Divers right on site. The house reef was outstanding. We did a two tank dive every day to some beautiful reefs. We were the only boat on the moorings as most operators don't go up that far. Awsome diving. We're hoping the dive shop runs the trip next year cause we'll definitely go.
Have you checked Air Canada's seat sale? You can get to Australia (Sydney) for about CAD 1600 (including taxes). Sounds like a lot, but it's a good price for a long trip.
I've seen flights advertised in the windows at Flight Centres.
Taveuni for soft corals? Kadavu to chill out, maybe see mantas? Or even a liveaboard - depending on time and budgets.
Hey, I think you can get a direct flight from Fiji to Vanuatu - what an interesting place, not to mention the wreck of the Coolidge! And then.....flights to
....don't stop!! more more more!! That's great, thanks guys, hmmmmm daydreaming now, Fiji, Curacao.... Found some sweet deals yesterday in the Phillipines and $3000cdn for 2wks in Fiji including air from Vancouver. Oh yeah, 4.5 star resort. There's still hope! Totally open to more suggestions - somewhere south of 49°N latitude though
I was just thinking that you could probably get a GREAT deal on a trip to Coz in the next couple months... They'll be BEGGING people to come down there to help bring in that lifeblood tourist money (assuming the airport and dive ops aren't too badly damaged to be operating).
Curacao has some awsome shore diving - check this link ! You don't need a boat for a lot of the diving & the deals on accomodations are good this time of year. Dying to go back since it's out of the hurricane belt!
