I guess you lock up your personal items in one room. You could even switch your mattress. (I think about that stuff too) I plan to get over that though....
I think if we switched the mattress, locked up all the personal items, I could cope with that. Most of the people swapping are retired couples, I noticed. They probably are pretty tame.
As much as it pains me. Go with Croatia. Split and Zagreb are beautiful and you can still dive fairly easy in Split. ( I would guess, I didn't do any diving while there) Either way both cities are amazing.
It was relatively inexpensive. But the time that I was there the currency was devalued (if I remember correctly). I spent a fair amount of time in different parts of what was Yugoslavia.
The architecture was awesome (when it didn't have holes shot into it ) if you want some more info, let me know.
