Last minute trip leaving Saturday 10/08. Need recommendations
Hey all,
I just found out I can take a week off next week. I have off from the 8th to the 16th. I'm looking for a place to go in the Caribbean. I've been to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Aruba, Bermuda, The DR and the Florida Keys. I'd like to go some place new if possible.
What I like it a place like Cozumel. I would just go there but I've been there 6 or 7 times in the last 3 years.
Good diving
Good food
Cheap if possible (going by myself)
Able to get there from Baltimore or DC airports
Not into AI's. Like the more local type settings.
Have you thought about Roatan? Lots of choices around the West End for restaurants, dive ops, etc. This place does rather tend to all inclusives, though, which is where my experience lies, but there are other options. Not much time, though... Good luck.
It’s hard to satisfy all of your requirements diving, food, cheap, and getting there.
Cozumel has it all, and at a price that wont break the bank.
I found changing ends of the island, or even staying in town, and trying a different dive operator made the island feel NEW again.
Personally, if I had your goals in mind I'd head to south Florida. WPB, Pompano, etc. have great diving, shore or charter. There's some great local eating, and I'd drive so I have all my gear and not worry about luggage.
If I really wanted to get out of the country I'd be looking at Bonaire. Sounds like there's good food and good diving without breaking the bank.
