Mesh Bag hotel to boat
One essential I have found is a roll of first aid tape. Use it to tape over anywhere where I get rubbed raw. Usually on my feet where fins rub, but useful as a bandaid as well. Stays stuck in the water far better than a bandaid or the like.
spare batteries (liveaboards only)
short extension cord to plug in all of your various chargers to a single outlet

There's a lot of stuff listed here, much of it necessary if you are travelling to a more remote area...
One little item I started to take is a very small power bar with a SURGE PROTECTOR built in. I travel with a whack of photo gear and a laptop, and with the fluctuating power supplies in some areas, and often a lack of outlets (especially on liveaboards) I have found this very useful. I picked one up at the airport since it was very compact with a short chord so it takes up a minimum of space.
I also take a small travel scale for weighing my bag(s). I find that a dive bag is often heavier coming home, perhaps because some gear is slightly damp, and this allows me to redistribute if necessary.
This might have been mentioned and I missed it, but a spare computer (which you dive with) is imperative. If your computer dies mid week, most operators will insist you stay out of the water for 24 hours. If you have a spare, and if you have been diving with it, there's no concern at all.
I still subscribe to the old adage of taking half as much "stuff" and twice as much "money" as you think you'll need, and it works pretty well. (And I use a list as well, which allows me to pack for a week away in about 15 minutes, and I know with certainty that my baggage weight is ok)
