Insel Air Craziness! Screwed up charge!

I booked our Bonaire plane tickets 10/18 for our December 21-31 diving trip and after going through all the issues choosing flights, etc. came up with Charlotte-Bonaire, through Curacao for $364.60. I went through the process of credit card info, etc. and thought no more about it. I got an email confirming tickets, but didn't read it thoroughly (first mistake). Then as the weeks went by did not check my credit card statement (second mistake). Now four days before departure, I print my confirming E tickets and discover they charged my credit card $1229.20 for two tickets. The total should have been $729.20 for the two tickets. I called their US 800 number and all the customer service rep could tell me is that the tickets were $614.60 each, not $360.60 each. I had just checked the website again and checked tickets for the very same flights and again came up with $360.60. Just for giggles, I checked for costs in January from 18th to 28th and again, came up with $360.60. I told her this and she said, she had no idea about that, but that MY tickets were $614.60 each!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She said I could only Email customer service with my complaint, that she (customer service) could not help. I have done so, and hope it works out.

A word to the wise. If you book Insel Air, be DAMNED SURE your charges are correct immediately.

Call your bank and get them to help you. After you return from the trip, ask them to reverse the charges until the other guys cooperate.
You can test the tanks you breathe or - dive on hope.
    Testing is safer...

Great news for vacation divers who cannot talk themselves into buying a personal CO tank tester!

    >> Rent one for a week or longer here <<
Now let's see more CO readings in your trip reports, ok...??

I finally got a response from Insel Air in writing (email). They informed me that the 1229.20 charge was in Guilders, which is converted to dollars by dividing by 1.8. I replied that is GREAT...except they charged my card in dollars, not Guilders. I sent them a copy of the credit card statement to prove that my account was debited in dollars. Waiting on an answer now...In the meantime, I have called my bank and they assure me that if Insel Air does not resolve it, they will backcharge them. I don' want to go there yet because we make the flight tomorrow. I want to make sure our tickets are good.

Ah ha, I see. I think the Netherlands is on the Euro, but the ABCs use Netherlands Antillian Guilders = about 1.8 NAG/USD. A computer glitch. I bet your bank can clear it up even after the trip.
