So what are your goals and resolutions for this year?
Mine: 1. I plan to hit 500 dives this year. I have been stuck in the 400s for 2 years now due to some health issues/injuries. It would be nice to hit that milestone in the ocean, but I won't be picky.
2. Heading to Cozumel in late March for 9 days. Gonna get in 25 dives minimum, and 24 hours underwater mandatory. Scuba Club Cozumel... love love love that place.
3. Get in a California kelp diving trip this summer with 9-10 dives minimum. We haven't been out in 2+ years and it is one of my favorite destinations in the world. Love the crazy critters and sharks and sea lions. Not sure if it will be all boat or Catalina land-based.
Nice goals...somehow I'm thinking it'll be a piece of cake for you this year.
I have "simple" goals for 2012:
1. Progress to over 450 dives (I broke 400 last month and hope to do at least 40 dives this year).
2. Have more "first" experiences while diving (our last trip had 3 new nudibranchs, a first close encounter with a dolphin, and seeing a new type of Scorpionfish).
My dive goals for 2012 are for someone else - my niece. She is 14 and would love to learn to dive. He parents are pod people and their ideal of vacation is to sit in the sand at the beach for a week or do a cruise.
I am taking her to Bonaire this summer (going with Herman) My wife and I are paying for her trip and certification and a week of diving at Buddy Dive. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.
My goal is to ship Scubapro gear to every state in the Union from a dive shop located @ about 8000' high in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. We live in an interesting time, 2012!
Dive goals for 2012
1. Try to get over to Catalina Island once a month either on charter boats, or the express to dive at casino point park. A bonus if Dr. Bill is diving that day.
2. Get in more shore diving at Laguna Beach.
3. Make 14 days in Cozumel this May & October instead of 7-10 days. Extra bonus if we meet up with any Scubaboarders.
4. Christmas in the Philippines, anialo & puerto galera.
1. Improve my fitness. I say this every year, but this year, by gum, I'm going to do it.
2. Polish some rusty skills. I'm not really sure what for, because the reason they're rusty is because I don't use them, but it seems silly to let go of things I spent so much time learning.
3. My big goal for this year is to support our fledgling GUE-Seattle organization. To that end, I want to make as many group dives as I can, and dive with some of the new people who come out to see what we're about. I also want to be a big part of the design and inception of our local Project Baseline. I see that as a fantastic way to involve divers and as a meaningful way to give back to the marine environment that's given me so much pleasure the last six years.
4. Travel, due to circumstances outside my control, will be severely curtailed. I still hope to make at least one cave diving trip this year.
