We've got under-10 kids that aren't ready to dive, but love snorkeling and the beach. We've had some good trips to Hawaii and gotten some dives in. Now looking for alternatives in Spanish-speaking countries ideally.

Any Pacific coast ideas?

Anthony's Key in Honduras is on our radar. But we are eyeing that for a likely 2015 trip (when both kids can participate in the planned kids' activities).

Other suggestions?

Pacific side diving is not what you're describing.

Google "scuba in Cozumel", that might hit the right note for you.

AKR is great for families, but you're right in waiting a few years.

but love snorkeling and the beach.
There's not a lot of beach at AKR. About Us - Anthony's Key Resort - Roatan - Honduras

Except at Bailey's Key where they keep the Dolphins. I think anyone above 8 can participate in most of the Dolphin activities. They even do a snorkel in the pens.

10mins. away West Bay Beach is often named one of the better beaches in the region. The thing to ask about north side beaches is what's just offshore. At some it turns to ironshore/coral just offshore. One of the best spots for snorkeling is supposed to be just off Half Moon Bay Beach in the West End. Another is the east point off West Bay.

Roatan is a good option for Spanish immersion. My friend speaks fluently and she frequently talked to the local kids during our trip.

Or Belize. There's nice beaches near the Placencia area of South Belize. And all the eco-activities - Mayan ruins, Jaguar preserve, Howler Monkeys, that the kids might like. Diving is all by boat and further out from the mainland though - often an hour or more boat ride. Hamanasi is one option that's a little more upscale than AKR - http://www.hamanasi.com/belize_resort.html I don't know how good the snorkeling is in that area.
