but the smell is horrible..... I tagged along for my hubbies AOW class down there and we got to pop our heads into the hotel entrance, whew..... funky ick air was the smell of the day. The water had about 5 feet of viz (but in all fairness, there were a ton of stdent divers kicking things up) I only saw one little bitty fish. Cool to check out, but way to expensive to actually stay the night.

Man I thought the place was really neat, did not spend the night but took a tour of the lodge (it was not occupied at the time) with one of the designers during last years DEMA.

It does stink, and the vis is affected by the activity in the "Emerald Lagoon" but... there is some cool stuff there if you look. The best place for fish watching is on top of the motel, and there are cool invertebrates all over. I would not be very enthusiastic about staying in the room, even at regular motel prices.
I stayed there years ago, like 1986 or so. It was expensive.
After a couple of hours, it got very boring. It is not like you look out of the port and see a beautiful reef. The place is basically located in a canal. Back then, the bottom was pretty muddy but they have done some things to improve the area.
You can go out and dive and then return to the bell, where you enter through the bottom hatch. That was the best, or should I say only good, part.
Knowing what I know, I would not do it the first time or ever again.
