Contacts that touch the battery cover on Genesis React Pro?

What do the contacts that touch the battery cover on the Genesis React Pro do?

The computer seems to run just fine on the surface without the battery cover.
Kettering's Law says they are there for a reason.

    Hi Chuck,

This clip is to touch the piezo alarm and not the battery cover itself.

    Thanks,
    Genesis Scuba

The alarms is in the computer, but in order for the alarm to work there is a connection that needs to be completed to the battery cover.
