The question remains then if politics demand you maintain the DM cert would doing a crossover to instructor with that agency improve your situation or complicate it?
It will drain my wallet doubly fast with the dual dues paid to 2 agencies. Not sure if the situation will improve.... thats why I'm asking.
apart form filling tanks and having to deal with the most annoying students in a class... what does a DM do that an instructor doesn't :P
The politics part is with reference to agencies. Try to sell yourself using an instructor cert from agency Y in a resort that promotes agency x. In practice, you can do everything your instructor cert will allow you to do, but due to politics, only your DM cert from agency X will be "recognized".

The resort should recognize all instructor cards, regardless of agency. If the resort refuses to recognize your card, perhaps going to a different resort would be the solution.
At the minimum have a chat with whoever is in charge at the resort and ask if W instructor card is not welcome then maybe he/she would be so kind as to inform you which resort in that area recognizes the W agency. That way you can inform all of the other W instructors (and their students) so that they will not bother the resort that is giving you a hard time. You may see a very rapid change in attitude towards the W agency. The politics will change when money is concerned.
