Once again, I am posting this for my sweetie...
The Roatan Children's Fund 2007 Calendar was a great success, much more than we ever expected for the first year. We expected to sell several dozen but ended up selling several HUNDRED.
The money we raised helped pay for many improvements in the lives of the children of Roatan, as well as keeping the Children's home functioning. A few examples:
* We provide bottled water for the Children's Home, eliminating water borne illnesses which were previously very common!
* We are paying the salaries of the two "house parents" who have brought their love to share along with their daily support for the kids.
* We recently purchased a new refrigerator when the only one they had died .
* We purchased two new washing machines when the previous two failed over a short period.
We also provide support for school and health related activities that benefit kids all over the island. (See the website for a full list.)
So, how can YOU help?
I am putting together the 2008 calendar now and need your photos to make the second edition even better than the first. As I did for 2007, I plan on having several photos per page, arranged in a theme. We need above water photos as well as your favorite UW shots.
Your photos do not need to be digital. I can work with digital images, slides, negatives or prints. Last year I scanned a lot of Doc Adelman's slides from the 80's and 90's for the "Old Roatan" special pages. (Special thanks to Doc for trusting me with his slides!) Anyone else got any great stuff like that? (Old Fart already sent me a huge amount of negatives to work with. Thanks Vernon!)
I need photos taken anywhere on or around Roatan. I need land shots as well as underwater subjects. I would like to know where the photo was taken, who took it and when so I can provide proper credits on the calendar. (Note: if you have a great shot but the exposure is not quite right, I can still work with it. In most cases I can adjust the colors and exposure to be more correct unless the photo is "totally green" or grossly overexposed.)
I am especially in need of "Mr. Bill" photos for a special spread on the man and his vision. Candid shots of Mr. Bill (working, playing, building) or "vintage" photos of CoCo View Resort and staff are all needed.
Please look into your heart and your photo collection to help the project (and the kids!) You can email me at calendarproject@k8smate.com for more information. I will reply with what I need in terms of file size, etc.
Lets all get to work on this for the kids!
