    GLWC South Florida Chapter

So I head down to Key Largo for two days of wreck diving, and as I'm unloading my gear this morning, MgicTwnger steps outta the shop... Two of the other folks are wearing shirts from 'The Scuba Shop' out of Florence KY. Talk about a small freakin' world... Yet another group is in from Minnesota (with rebreathers no less....) We proceed to tear apart the Duane and Speigel Grove like they are swiss cheese w/ some of the fairly long swim throughs...

Since out of sight = out of mind... I need to make sure I keep some of you REAL wreck divers in my circle of trust... These florida folks are wimps..., complaining at 73 degree water, and 30' visability. Lemme show ya some of toys in my new backyard... If anyone is in the area - give me a hollar.......

    Check out my pics....

The incompetent often end up "grossly overestimating" their own competency because the skills people need to recognize competence (or incompetence) are the same skills they need to be competent in the first place.

Ya'll come on back down heah in August when the temperatures during the afternoon are just barely warm enuff to be tolerable (mid 90's); not to mention the water at 88 degrees is finally warm enough to get by with just a 3mm full suit if you wear a 5 mm hooded vest also. Then we'll talk!

I still consider this the far north (SW FL)! As least as far as I am concerned it is.

Meanwhile, Tim, back in your old stomping grounds, a bunch of folks did the Willie last weekend off of Jerry's boat and had a blast. The weather scratched the afternoon boat but the morning crew had a good dive. The only complaint, other than the long swells, was that the spray kept freezing to the deck and made tromping about in doubles a bit dicey.

High 20's on the surface, high 30's on the bottom, you could see the wreck from the boat...
    Gone diving.
