My boyfriend and I are contemplating a 2-3 week trip to Cuba, my boyfriend in a non-diver and I am a diver. Ideally I'd like to spend one week in an area where I can dive, we can do some relaxing on the beach and some other topside activites. We are budget travellers - will probably stay in casa particulars for most of the trip, but wouldn't mind splurging on a hotel for a week or so.
I don't know much about diving in Cuba, but from what I've heard it's limited to afew areas. I would like to know:
Where is the best places to dive in Cuba?
Is there budget accommodation available in these places?
What is the diving like in comparison to, say, Belize, the Philippines? Do you see big stuff? Colourful coral?
And last but not least, a general travel question.....for those of you who have travelled throughout Cuba - what are the areas of Cuba you enjoyed the most? Some suggestions on must see's/must do's would be greatly appreciated!!
