Has anybody ever dove lake tarpon. I'm wondering if the lake has any areas in the 20 foot range with a sandy bottom?

Thanks,
Dave.

I lived on Lake Tarpon for 5 years. The only depth you will find is in the canal behind Boot Ranch. Sandy bottom? With all the fertilizer running off, its a hydrilla(sp) wonderland, or was.

I've fallen off my boat into the lake - does that count? :)

I wouldn't dive there for all the tea in China. Lots of folks running around there in big, fast bass boats. I won't run you over, but I've seen some real idiots out there (e.g. during tournaments). Then there are the kids on those PWC's - IMHO, they're dangerous out there. Lastly, I see a lot of alcohol being consumed out there. Boats, booze and divers are never a good combination.

However, if you are out there in a boat, wander about half way up the lake and on the West side are little cuts for lake side homes. I've pulled quite a few 10+lb bass out of those cuts... It ain't a Top 10 Bass lake for nuttin.
