Planning to go down there soon also with one of my dive buddies, although I will probably end up staying at Al Suwadi due to proximity to the dive centre, but the prices at the Millennium look okay, and it's got to be better than Al Suwadi.
Quite a few small stingers around east coast of UAE at the moment.
Hi guys, this is my first post and couldn't resist. I was living and working in Oman between 1980 and 1984. Discovered the Daymaniyat islands in 1981 and was diving there every weekend with friends. We stopped diving only for a month between December and January every year. Used to pay the local fishermen to take us there and bring us back. They were the only ones that knew about this place and were fishing there also for living. The place was amazing and i believe it still is.
This post brings back a lof of memories, thanks!
Went to Muscat this weekend with 8 of our travel club members. We had an awesome time and the diving was fantastic. We dived Bandar Kahrain one day and Daymaniyat Islands the second day. All 5 dives were great with >15m viz, hardly any current and lots of marine life. We went with Knight Divers, who I'd definitely recommend with two thumbs up. The marine life and conditions at the more local sites are similar to those here at the UAE east coast, but the Daymaniyat Islands dives we did were right up there at the top of my scale - besides, it's always great to dive at new/different places. We'll definitely continue offering this weekend trip on a regular basis. Only negative / bitter thing: lots of fishing boats and fishing nets out there ((
Let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to give more detailed information (if I can). I'll also put some picture on Picasa soon (just have to clear the desk from all the work that got stuck while I was away........)
