We are writing an artical for another publication about technical diving in Hawaii. After my last post I realized I should take advantage of the expertise here and ask if anyone knows of any other operations that offer technical diving trips. This is what I know:

B&B Scuba on Maui
Dive Tek on Big Island
Island Divers on Oahu
Scuba and Dreams on Oahu

Thanks,
Matt

Hey look I am listed, I feel honored...yay for Matt :)

As far as I know Aarons does PADI DSAT, so that would be another one for Oahu.

(all Maui)

North Shore Explorers has a tech instructor as one of the owners...

Maui Dreams Dive Co. does Drager Dolphin instruction and can do Nitrox blends to 50% and fill 100% O2.

I believe Ed Robinson's may be "tech-friendly" -- as in, if you rent the entire boat, they'll take care of you.

Though I've not dove with them (in full disclosure I work for DiveTEK from time to time..) Jim Holt's Konaquatica here on the Big Island offers CCRs and trimix.

Forgot to mention: Hawaiian Rafting Adventures / Dive Maui is also tech friendly. Steve Juarez (the owner) is a TDI instructor and they're just trying to line up crew in order to run a second boat to do more of the technical diving.

At the moment, I don't believe they provide any mixed gasses -- they have a membrane system to provide Nitrox 32, but that's it.

According to their website See in Sea is "rebreather friendly" I think that just means that they can fill 100% O2 though, not sure if that counts...

What about Ocean Concepts, they do fills up to 100% 02, He, and Trimix. In addition they have instructors on staff that can teach up to Trimix.

Yeah, but they'll only do it on tanks with their stickers... They may be Tech oriented, but not what I would say "Tech Friendly" or even "Rec Friendly."

Matt

Should a shop that only offers nitrox be considered as a tech friendly operation? Seems they should be able to offer tri mix classes and tri mix to be considered.
