Just a quick shout out to the crew at Lahaina divers for a great trip to Molokai.

The weather wasn't great, and the boat was kicking around pretty good. The captain and crew run a great operation that gets customers on and off the boat even in pretty heavy seas safely and efficiently. We have been to Lanai with Lahaina divers twice before and were always impressed with the boat, the crew, and the diving. This time was no different.

We were skunked on our first dive and spent part out in the blue kicking against a pretty strong current, then after seeing nothing for a bit, we went back to some nice reef structure and saw an octo and a large eagle ray. We were disappointed to come all that way in rough seas and not see sharks, but we know nature will do what it wants, when it wants. On the second dive, BINGO! Less than 10 minutes in, we were approached by 6 fairly good sized hammerheads, and then a few minutes later another group of 10 came in really close and swam by. One larger one actually turned his body up so that he could have a good look at us! AMAZING!

If you have a chance and are 1 - comfortable with heavy seas and rough entry/exits (several really seasick folks), and 2 - open water drifting with no bottom or reference for depth this is quite a trip - Lahaina divers does a great job A++

Some photos by a gracious dive buddy on the boat. - you can also check out a quick video of my daughter getting 'snuck up' on over at Facebook.....
