I went to this a couple weeks ago. Captain Jeff of Wikoliana is doing the prep work out of Marisco in Kapolei.
The plan is to sink it near the Mahi.

UPDATE.....

Aloha Divers,

HIRSA is partnering with Capt. Jeff Landsdown on a fun project. If any of you are interested in working on an artificial reef program...please read on. Capt. Jeff is preparing a boat for dropping as an artificial reef. He is looking for volunteers to assist. The goal is to create a new and exciting shipwreck dive site and animal habitat.

This might be a great project for a graduate student working on a thesis or dissertation.

If you are interested, please contact Jeff Landsdown at wikoliana@gmail.com. Please share with your friends. The more the merrier. This is a great opportunity to see the before and after of an artificial reef.

I have been in contact via email with Cap Jeff as well. Interested volunteers are welcome to meet at the Marisco yard in Kapolei (91-607 Malakole St, Kapolei, HI 96707) this SATURDAY AT 9:45 AM. Lots of our club members are planning on making it out........

Here are some tips:

Wear long pants, long sleeves and closed toed shoes. Slippers are NOT a good idea........ Bring your own work gloves if you have them. Bring plenty of drinking WATER! Think of others who may not be prepared and if you have extra gloves, dust masks, work buckets, light tools (wire brushes, sanders, grinders) these can all be helpful.

Since I haven't seen her yet I'm not sure how much progress has been made. I am however looking forward to seeing a lot of you out there this Saturday. It's not a one day job so let's not get bummed if we can't make it this weekend. Blade and I will keep you up to date on chances to volunteer in the future and as he mentioned...... email Capt Jeff Landsdown for more info.

I'm hearing (2nd hand) that they're planning to drop it close to the Mahi.
