Actually the closest dive operator is Blue Wilderness Dive Adventures. They are right in the Queen's Marketplace. And from my experience living there, they are a lot friendlier and really a lot of fun!!
I got back from my diving trip yesterday - Jan 13th 2012. Big Island divers were professional and had very good equipment. I did the garden eel cove and manta night dive with Stan as the dive master. It was a memorable experience. They gave us a 5 mm wet suit which kept you warm in the water and the mantas were dancing so gracefully - still dreaming about the experience. Safety is also a concern as I heard they canceled the next day due to rough waters.
Next time I will try the black water dive with them.
Just got back from the Big Island a few weeks ago and also highly recommend Kona Diving Company. Loved the small dive groups and long dive times (had an 86 minute dive with them one day!).
Just a bunch of really nice people (felt like going out diving with friends every day).
Dont forget to do the Manta night dive at least once!

Great vid, I never tire of the mantas... I'm wondering where you saw the black tip reef shark? I see the white tips many places, but have never had the pleasure of seeing a black tip.
