For the plate I can't agree more I have a Hog SS plate that was almost 1/2 the price of others, I am partial to Dive Rite wings but the Hog you really can't go wrong with.
I've been browsing through this thread and I can't find a single mention of the APEKS WTX range.
For me this is the way to go. For several reasons. I've been using their regs for years so I trust the brand and was keen to try their tech range when it came out. Basically it is about 2/3rds the cost of Dive Rite, Hollis, Halcyon et al. Who really only charge for their name. In the UK a Hollis aluminum BP will set you back £80+, where as an IST BP will only set you back £40+. At the end of the day it is only a lump of metal, and if we weren't so lazy we could all have it done for cheaper in a local workshop anyway.
The WTX harness is a one piece so it fits with the Hog mentality, and it comes pre-grommeted so no fiddling with screwdivers. The harness comes with enough D-rings (5) and complete with a crotch strap, at barely more than buying the stuff seperately.
The WTX wings, solid. Yes the rec 40 lb is a tad big. But the 60LB I have for tech is ultra reliable, and as it is U-shape, there is plenty or room to bungee an SMB onto the backplate (which I do; it's red & yellow btw )
