What is the best way to tie bungee ends together?

I am moving my computer and compass to bungee mounts. Only the bungee mount for the compass came with instructions, but they are vague at best. The instructions state, the bungee can be joined with small zipp ties. I have no idea what a zipp tie is. What is the best way to tie the ends off?
    Thanks,

    Carrie

I tie them together with a square knot. Pull it good and tight, and it won't slip.

    I use a fisherman's knot. Fishermans Knot -- I Will Knot!

It is fairly easy to adjust. But I do not use it on anything that would be lost with a single knot failure. A gauge boot should have 2 independent loops so I'm OK with that.

square knot backed by an overhand

    or the fishermans knot . . .

I actually use something that looks like the fishermans knot for my bungied back-up . . .

I was planning on just using a single piece of bungee. I'm thinking that maybe putting super glue on the knot will keep it from coming open.

So I guess I don't know what a zip tie is, either.
