I notice that the shipping options seem pretty much contained to the planet Earth. What if you're stuck on the space station with no toilet and no spools? 160' isn't that far from from the cameras if you're dropping the back flap in desperation...
but I think I know what brought it back to life after 2 years. We were discussing the cost of Salvo finger spools ($44 I think) over on ST forum and comparing them to the 'no name' ones.
several of us mentioned we bought these from Phil and I even gave the link to show that these were Delrin (which was a question there on the no name finger spools).
Like the other poster linked, try the XS scuba ones he sells. About the same price, but comes with better line that is stronger and high-vis. worth the extra $2 or $3 bucks.
Not that I am complaining or anything but after 2 years or so the thumb slidder broke off my SS clip that I got with one of my spools.
All the rest are fine. Anyone else had this happen or is mine a one off?

I think that could happen no matter what brand you have.
I haven't had one break off, but I've had another brand (not one that came with this spool) corrode.
There is a spring inside the slider that is likely made of a slightly different type of metal. Two different metals combined with salt water and a small channel that holds salt residue will easily cause corrosion. Especially if they aren't rinsed correctly, and who goes to the trouble to flush/wash a double ender slide channel after each dive. most folks just dunk rinse their gear, which may or may not have that double ender attached.
Im not so sure. Where it has broken is along way (galvanic corrision wise) from the spring.
Funny thing is it broke off in my dive bin ( I always leave all my gear in a fresh water rinse for 30 min or so). I found it like that a week after my last dive.
But I do agree that it could happen to any bolt snap. Im still very pleased with my spool purchases.
In fact if Phil offered me a replacemnt snap I would probably decline. Probably.

I'm sure Phil would replace it to keep a customer happy, but since you're in NewZealand, I'd hate to see what shipping would be for it and a lot for just $2 double-ender.
