Waterproof to 10m, wow, that is useful. If there is a caseing for it the camera might be functional for a diver..

Actually a good idea, ever flood a cam housing? If not you will. Will this cam fit in any housings yet? Are the controls similar to say the coolpix line?

<- immediately looked a posting to see depth. As usual... another 10, 20, 30 footer.

The camera manufacturers must feel the market is too small for the capital investment in UW cameras to depths of 150 feet of seawater.

It is certainly not a technology problem.

Any real life use of this yet?

My Olympus Stylus 1030 got a fatal lens scratch and I need a new toy.
I never liked the battery door on the Olympus and this one looks a bit more robust.

    cheers!

I think the trend of a 10m waterproof in an outer case is the way to go. It provides one barrier of protection in case of minor leaks. Won't help for a full flood but definitely better than risking a $1500 camera with a single layer of defense.
