    CSEA from 178.57'

I was out diving this morn and had an OOA situation at 178.57 FTsw. The water temps were about 24 F and I think my regs frooze up. I didn't panic but I shed my weights and headed up doing the standard CSEA moves. Should I invest in a pony? If so what size? I will get my OW card next week.

Let me see if I have this right:

    - You're not even OW certified.

    - You have less than 50 dives under your belt

    - You were in 24 degree water and you THINK your reg froze

    - You were in 178 feet of water

Sorry man, but I can only conclude a couple of things here:

    - This is a troll thread.

    - You have a death wish.

You'll need at least three Spare Air devices and a flamethrower to melt your way back to the surface through the ice.

Beginner divers should be cautioned about diving that deep so early on in their careers.
Check out this link for a demonstration of pre-dive planning and in-water skills you can work on in order to conduct deep dives safely.

What would you do? ScubaBoard has a "What if...?" series geared for beginner divers.

I would get a 30 04 a 40 and sling it . I sling a 30 it give me more than enough air in an emergency and some for dive buddy if realy needed. I generaly stay above 130' . If you do go with a pony DO NOT CALCULATED THE AIR IN TO YOUR DIVE . that is a bad practice . good luch dive safe
You only get out of diving, What you put in to diving

I think you should just skip ow and get a rebreather. Order one online and let us know how it goes.

Yes, please invest in a pony.
