The Ikelite housing for a Sony DSC-W310 is on the way.
I've read that some housings should be "polished" to make them seal better. Do I need to polish or clean the sealing areas with this housing?

No polishing is necessary. Just make sure that the sealing surfaces are completely clean and free of lint, dirt or debris.

The o-ring of an ULTRAcompact style housing must be lightly lubricated with Ikelite silicone lubricant for a proper seal. You may also place a very light film of lubricant around the housing sealing surface. Use just enough to make the surfaces shiny--too much lube can actually compromise the seal.

I returned the Sony, and replaced it with a Canon G12.

I'm looking forward to getting a housing for this one.
