We had awesome diving this March in Raja Ampat on the Damai :D:

Now we got infected with the Raja Ampat virus. The reviews of Raja4divers were really good, but we also got some recommendation for the Misool Eco Resort. We want to go in March (Calm sea, good weather, good visibility) Could anyone compare these two resorts?
Thank you

Why is it so clear to you, Moony?

There is a dive guide at MER named Bram. We had him as a guide on the AA2 and he is awesome! Request him if you decide on MER.

MER has world class dive sites & great resort, but very expensive compared to others in RA. There also seems to be an on-going problem with transfer boats from Sorong. I stayed there last Oct. The boat trip from Sorong was 6 hrs. The return trip took 8 hrs - a new record. Mostly fuel system problems (unless the boat hits something in the water that breaks a lower drive unit on an engine). Be prepared for a very slow & hot humid boat ride. You can dive more of the extensive RA area on a liveaboard. Last I heard there were 40-45 boats diving north & south itineraries.

Haven't been to MER, read that they have a wonderful conservation program... Raja4Divers is a really nice resort - btw, no a/c in rooms (bungalow) in case u might miss that, the camera room has a/c tho... They saw a dugong at their house-reef 3+ weeks ago...
Since u have been on a liveonboard, maybe you could consider which area's diving you had enjoyed more - north or south?

Both regions offer incredible divesites, but Dampier Strait seemed a little bit crowded with many boats around. Misool would be my first choice, if they can fix the transfer problem.

MER was great, the transfers quick and well organized. The diving was even better than last year. Expensive, buth worth every penny.

Hot diggity damn that diving looks good! I'll scrounge up enough money to get to RA one of these days.

Great video BTW.
