Weight belts are pretty standard in most tourist areas anyway. Many have mentioned above, that a belt with buckle is certainly quick release with one hand, and most students are taught this. You will rarely find a tourist boat here (Cairns - Barrier Reef) with BCDs having weight pockets. Get lost too easily.
Keep it simple.
I guess I am the one who would question this, again as far as PADI goes it states ""quick release that allows you to release your weights with one hand in an emergency.The quick release is the most important feature on any weight system"
So think of trying to unbuckle a belt with notches one handed with weight offering counter resistence, could you undo it one handed? Probaly but, would it quick? and think of this: what about the new open water diver, would they be able to accomplish this task?
