I was so excited to see a scuba related show...I was disappointed... What a major waste of my time, as a scuba enthusiast this show does not come close to delving in to what diving is really about... The episode I watched was Aaron at a Casino playing blackjack with the producer...quality ... Maybe this show just depicts what the producer is interested in...drinking, gambling, women, and lastly a bit of diving!
First off, welcome to the board! Since you're new here, you might not have noticed yet that the producers have been listening to some of the feedback that's been given to them about the show. You might take a look around, read some of the comments and possibly give some of your own suggestions for specific shows and episodes you'd like to see highlighted in future airings?

I don't get the double meaning tho.. Drinking and Diving do not mix! Is that what they mean by the title?
I wish I could find the other 5 threads where this subject was brought up so I did not have to go back through it again but we want everyone to understand and enjoy ITD. So, with that said, I am more than happy to take the time in hopes that you see what the purpose of the show is.
Into The Drink is indeed a double entendre. This travel show not only introduces the local marine life through diving but the local beverages and spirits through tours of vineyards, breweries, distilleries and even cultural drinks that are thousands of years old made in forests, and locals back yards. While drinking and diving do not mix simultaneously I think you will agree that most divers, while on vacation, do partake in the occasional beverage and most find one of the local beverages to their liking while there. We use this opportunity to show some of the local people and cultures that are found in the region as well.
We also know that the diving community is changing and a very big part of the people involved also like doing other things while on vacation so we try to create a well-rounded show for everyone. We are creating something that we hope can weather the storm of network TV critics and provide a show with a diving backbone for all of us who love diving to enjoy for years to come.
We wanted to create a travel show that would appeal to divers and non-divers alike so we could introduce the past time that we love so much to the masses. Too many times shows around diving have only been about wreck diving or tech diving. While we love that part of the sport we wanted to tap into the largest part of the diving community...recreational diving.
No where will you see us practicing unsafe diving in regards to alcohol and diving nor will you see us promoting any unsafe practices. That is why PADI chose to sponsor season one and we are working on having them as a part of the show in season two as well.
Everyone around the world, especially in diving is trying to save the whales, save the dolphins and save the sharks. We are a BIG proponents and support these efforts but we are out to "Save The Fun." That is our new slogan and call to action for season two and we will be launching this campaign very soon. To us, it seems that fun is endangered in and around the diving world and we hope we can do just a little to help bring that back.
I truly hope you take the time to watch the rest of season one as they are all different and have something to offer for all fans of travel TV. Do take the time to watch season two with the new host Nick Lucey when it airs this summer, I think you will like his take on Into The Drink.
Surprised I am that the Producer is answering my thread, but just as surprised that you would feel I am wasting your time... Reading over past threads last night, I found that I am not the only one who was disappointed in the show's content. Do the sponsor's of the show read this thread? Your answers are all the same, the agenda is to push the show, I get that. I was just hoping to find a show on diving and things that have to do with diving i.e. best spots, equipment that is offered at destinations etc. Yes, I was disappointed, I do not want to run all over a port looking for "the best" in distilleries or night life. I am sure you will find this boring, but I go on a diving trip for just that...diving...
I LOVE the show with Aaron and Im sure I will LOVE the show with Nick. The show is about diving AND having fun and checking places out when not diving. Personally I like to do both and drink in between. I like to have fun whenever possible.
If you are looking for a dive only show go talk to Discovery HD or National Geo and ask them to put something together.
