hello to all, I hope this one works. I've placed two posts and it says I havent yet so here I go again. Names Matt age 26 from southern california. I'm heading to Thailand on jan 22 to meet up with my Swiss buddies in Koh Samui and then on to the diving adventure. Still looking for a good place for the Divemaster course, had originally planned for Koh Tao but after ghosting on this site the last month, I think I've decided on Phuket, Kata Beach to be exact.

. .. . . at least thats the current plan

hope to meet up with some of you there and I would be greatful for any advice.

Welcome Matt and happy diving in Thailand. I would love to hear about it we are always looking for new dive tour sites.

Thats hello in Thai. Hop all of you are enjoying winter in the northen hemisphere. We are in to our main dive season here with 30+ degrees (that's around 90 degrees for Americans). Water temp is still cool now only around 27-28 degrees but it will warm up in a couple of months to +30. Hope to see some of you here in the land of smiles and the world's best food.

You are right to head for west coast Thailand as the gulf side is now in its windy rainy seson and it will remain so for the next couple of months. Samuii and Ko Tao are overrun with dive shops and divers and you will generally see as many divers as you do fish. Phuket is the same but it has a great night life and shopping is endless. If yo are looking for a tropical island paradise then Phuket is not it. It is very commercialised. Just like Hawaii. If yo want something more laid back then head for Ko Lipe in the deep south west. Still very little development and it is in the middle of Tarutao Marine National Park. Great diving, cheap and beautiful.
