Hello to all you diving vets!

Like the so-called old guy, I've been wanting to do this all my life, and just two summers ago got certified at age 43. I'm from Niagara Falls, NY, and hope to do a lot of diving in the Niagara River, Lakes Ontario and Erie, as well as the St. Lawrence. I wish the weather was warmer up here, but hey, at least the taxes are high (wait a minute..!)

My biggest question at this point is finding decent and affordable equipment. Thanks for welcoming me to the forum, I'm looking forward to learning a lot.

Jim

Welcome .... Advice for buying equipment:

1. Buy Once; Buy Right
2. Don't buy on impulse -- do your homework.
3. Ask lots of questions, get lots of opinions!
4. Realize this is an equipment intensive sport -- suck it up and don't count the pennies. (BTW - so is golf, skiing, rock climbing and most other cool activities).
5. Support your LDS whenever feasible.

I am sure there is more advice, but gotta run ....
