I was advised by the admins to start here. I'm pretty new to diving. I took my confined water class through my university that was taught by the local dive shop. I went to FL in May to do my open water dives at Blue Grotto and Devils Den.
In June, I received my advanced open water at Mermet Springs in IL.
I am currently doing the Master Scuba Diver challenge and Rescue is my next class.
I am planning on doing these specialties: Deep, Wreck, Cavern, Nitrox, Equipment specialist.
At the moment, the major piece of gear I have is my suunto d6 watch that I got brand new on eBay for $350. So far, I've only dove 2 times with it but I love it. I am making an effort to put money towards classes instead of gear.
I'm always looking to dive but being a college student kind of restricts my money flow but I try to save all my money just for diving haha

If you're need a dive buddy and have some gear I can use, I'd be more than happy to tag along.

Welcome to SCUBAboard!

Good Luck & Good Diving.

Welcome. I'm in Hopkinsville, in southwestern KY. KY has a number of divers!

Richard.

By where you're located at, I'd bet you dive a lot at Pennyroyal. I haven'y been there yet but will probably be doing my rescue diver class there. I'm looking forward to it.
You should check out something the local dive shop is doing August 10th. It fills up quick since its limited to 50 divers, but it should be a lot of fun. Here's a link to it:
Treasure Hunt & Cookout: Sat. August 10-- New Horizons Diving

I also dive & teach a lot at Pennyroyal, as I'm located in Owensboro. I'm down there 3/5 weekends. If you're ever down there look me up, I'll likely be around. Look for a female in a yellow/ orange drysuit, wearing double cylinders (when fun diving) & with a big black scooter.

Awesome! I'll definitely have to look you up. I'll be doing my rescue diver course August 24th and 25th. I'll try to see if you're down ther when we head out.
Look forward to diving with ya.

Unfortunately the 24 & 25th is one of my 2/5 weekends I must work. I will be down there July 27 & 28 (Open Water dives), Aug. 3 & 4th (Specialties) & Aug. 10 & 11th (interning to become a Dive Control Specialist Instructor & teaching a Stress & rescue course). I will likely be back down there Aug. 31 & Sept 1st to teach something....

Sound like you stay really busy. I'll be down there pretty frequently over the next few months doing all my speciality's for master scuba diver. So I'm sure we will run into each other at some point. Haha

Congrats on your diving path. (GO BIG BLUE!!!-Class of 94). Regarding equipment, you may keep an eye on Craigslist. From time to time I see people nearly giving their stuff away. You could slowly build you a good package as funds allow.
I will be passing through Hopkinsville this Wednesday afternoon and hope to get a couple of hours in at Pennyroyal asI have never been there. Good luck.
