I've just joined the board and am about to get my open water cert. I never had much interest in diving unitil recently, but am loving every moment that I'm in the water. I'm from Barbados originally and my initial motivation to learn was to be able to dive on my next trip back. One of my shipmates that I drill with is teaching me. If there's anyone from the area that dives and wouldn't mind a newbie along, send me a message.
