I am new to this forum but some times we all need a helping hand.
One of my fellow instructors down here in key west has had some hard times in the past 2 years.
in 2013 she was told that she has stage 3 breast cancer after undergoing chemo, radiation and a mastectomy, the doctors said that she was free of cancer! As a celebration a group of people sent her and her boyfriend on a trip to French Polynesia for 3 weeks. at the end of what was going to be the beginning of getting there life back to normal.
the day they got back in to the united stated they got a phone call telling them that there boat which they live on sank with every thing they owned.
that was not the worst part of it karen had a doctors appointment the next day to check up on her.
the next day came with even more bad news Karens breast cancer was not gone like they told her it was instead it has spread to her lungs and now her brain with over 11 timers on her brain and 16 on her lungs. the doctors said she might be lucky to live 9 months to a year with treatment. that was the average life span of some one with triple negative stage 4 breast cancer that has spread. with that being said the group of people that has helped her out in so many ways over the past year are reaching out to every diver and good person they know to help this woman go dive the places she wants to and see the curettes the wants to see before she is taken from the big blue ocean called home.
if you can help in any way or even just sharing this link to make sure she can dive with whale sharks to swim with thresher sharks or see mimic octopus and just have a great last few months with her boyfriend diving and forgetting about how unfair life can be to take some one at the age of 40.
