Hello from landlocked Atlanta.
Just wanted to say that I've been lurking for several weeks now and you guys have taught me a lot!! I feel prepared now to "take the plunge", sign up for PADI OW, and..plan to head to Walker's Cay Bahamas in May for my check out dive with the sharks.
After last summer's media frenzy, I decided to look at the shark issue more carefully. I learned that the media is sending the wrong message about sharks, and now I love the animals!
I have always wanted to dive, but for some reason it never seemed like an attainable goal - it costs $$, I live in Atlanta...etc.
I'm SO glad I've been bitten by the SCUBA bug and look forward to joining you all underwater.
I also have a question. Probably a dumb one, but...if you join a dive trip without a buddy - is it usually easy to hook up with someone on the boat, in other words - are there usually other buddyless divers? Or, what if everyone but you is already teamed up with someone? How does that work generally?? I'm curious because I travel for work, and I enjoy travelling alone -so I was wondering what the "protocol" is in this situation?
Thanks and I look forward to bugging you all with more questions soon!!
