Hello. I was in Hurghada, Egypt last week on a diving course and ran into what my dive instructor called a unique problem. I have a complete set of false teeth and the problem is that when I tried to hold the mouthpiece, my upper teeth would come lose and gag me so that I had to surface. They even came out in the pool when I tried to replace my regulator! What options do I have besides the U. S. Divers moldable moputhpiece? I am planning on going back to the Red Sea next week with a SeaCure mouthpiece. Will this solve the problem? Thanks for any and all serious replies.

Howdy!

And welcome to SB - the biggest, the best, the fastest growing, and :D the friendliest!

Do you not use Denture Adhisive? I know that some denture wearers don't, but I know divers who use it only when diving.

Completing your Profile with location and seperately - your Dive Info will help in future diving discussions. You can use the Quick Links menu above for this. Sizing a photo for your profile or Avatar can be a challenge; I'm a fumbling amateur, but I get the job done, if you'd like any help?

PM me if I can help you learn your way around; that is - click my username to the upper left, then follow the prompts to send me a "Personal Message."

And if you're going to be in Houston Oct 16 - for the DEMA show or any other reason, you're even invited to a SB Bar-B-Q dinner! Click here: http://scubaboard.com/t73366-swampers-bbq-update-and-current-info.html or PM me for assistance in signing up for it. Dee wanted to know sooner, but she can squeeze a few in late. I wouldn't miss this for anything! :thumb:

Welcome to ScubaBoard! :happywave

Ask the question in our Diving Medicine forum as well. There are come dentists and orthadontists there that may be able to give you some ideas.

Don't forget to fill out your profile and dive info, so that we can add context to your future posts. Also, once we know where you are geographically from your profile, you may find that you'll have a whole bunch of new dive buddies to choose from locally.

Dive safe!

Christian

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or repsond to in this forum.

Home Depot, buy some wood screws, and screw them down.........why not dive without them, put them in your BC pocket.

Wow, that does sound like an uncomfortable problem. I wish I had some wonderful advice for you but I don't (sorry) if you find a solution to this, Please let everyone know. I'm sure this has happened to others before. BTW, welcome to the board!
Good luck!

Cheers,
Vickie

Well, I've been diving down in the Red Sea lots from Eilat to Sharm but never in Hurghada. Why not just take out the teeth, get the dust out of the regulator and have at it. You can always replace the teeth when you surface. It's some of the finest diving in the world there and only dangerous because the visibility is so spectacular one tends to dive deeper than expected. Have fun and forget about the teeth.

Have you not tried Denta- fix (or something like that)
Apparantley you can eat apples and steak and even chew toffee without your teeth moving an inch

Failing that, you might want to consider super glue. :D

I have put this member in touch with another who has been diving with dentures for years, and they're exchanging PMs.
