Finally, I was convinced to join a dive forum.
Just a little bit about myself.
My name is Chooi (pronounce 'chewy') and I am a PADI OWSI and reside in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia.
Malaysia is a safe country with a large middle income group and we all speak English!
Our diving is superb ranging from the islands of the East Coast of West Malaysia to Layang Layang, Sipadan and Mabul in East Malaysia.
We are also centrally position to dive Thailand, indonesia and Phillipines. That's why I am here!
If you need information on the dive sites here. Or if you wanna know how safe the region is, please ask away.
I have been diving the region for 16 years and still lovin' it!
I am also a dive operator for the region and specialise in "Guardian Angel" trips. This means if you are a group (min 6), I will be on the trip with you to dive master, guide and maybe throw a few tips your way. I also organise complementary trips like white water, Sepilok, Mulu Caves, Mt Kinabalu clmb, etc. When you are out here, you wanna do more than just dive!
So if you need information, don't hesitate to ask.

Welcome Chooi! My parents used to live in KL so I am very familiar with your beautiful country (and yes, there is great diving to be had there too!)

Welcome to ScubaBoard! May you enjoy all it offers. Was in KL a few years ago and found the people there to be very nice. Didn't have time to dive, but hope to return. In fact, a Malaysian friend of mine currently living in Singapore just sent me a postcard asking me to come dive with her. Gotta check those flight schedules!

You're welcome to put your website in your Signature. Enjoy the forums...

And don't be shy about posting. Click Forums above, tour the long list of choices, and jump in anywhere you're qualified. PM me with any questions, and I'll try to find a pretty good answer.

Selamat datang!

Get out of here !!!! You are not welcome !!!! I was here first !!!!

Glad you have finally signed up. Now we can bring our fights to SB as well !!!

I took this guy out on his first dive and now.... if anyone on this board wants to see or photograph little critters; he is the guy you want to dive with.

Good to have you on board !!!!

Yes...WOW! what a welcome!
Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome- I feel like I just stepped aboard on a diveboat!
It is nice to know that there are so many divers out there.
As I have mentioned before,do send me any quesions you may have on the region esp south east asia. We have been through a lot the past few years with the SARS, Tsunami and the kidnapping in Sipadan. And yes, we have rolled with every punch thrown at us and have landed back on our feet!
So is it safe to come to Sipadan? Yes, since Malaysia won the island after 30 years of argument in the world court, we have made it safe. Our navy patrols the area and is very visible, so come- it is one of the world's best dive site!
Thailand is recuperating- Phuket needs all the business they can get. So go there too!
Pulau Weh i Indonesia has been left stranded- without the infrastructure in Aceh, it will take a while before theat part of the world gets back on its feet. So please continue to contribute. A disaster of this proportion takes years to recover.
West Malaysia profresses forward. With a sound infrastructure and a huge middle class, it has prospered. Modern facilities are found everywhere. English widely spoken and poverty at its lowest level compared to anywhere else in SEA except maybe, Singapore.
The islands are prospering and the whole of the east coast of peninsula Malaysia has been designated into a huge marine park! Resorts have improved in facilities and amenities.
So for those of you who have never been, I say, "COME!". And for those who have been, I won't have to say anything, because I know you will come visit us again!
So please do ask me anything you want to know about SEA. I am only too happy to help. We have beautiful people and beaches and I am proud to show it off!

Again, thank you all for the warm welcome.
