Hi all, I began diving in Misawa last summer and am looking forward to diving this summer. I am always looking to meet up with divers here in Northern Japan.

Welcome to SB. If you or any other divers in Japan that read this are familiar with southern California algae that have invaded Japanese waters, I'd sure be interested in learning about them. I'm a kelp forest ecologist, and we're having trouble here with two Asian invasives (Sargassum filicinum and Undaria pinnatifida).

Wow... Never expected to see "Misawa" in the list of scuba board threads. I was there back in 84....I'm sure a lot has changed.
