Hi all! I'm a Pitt student originally from the Philadelphia area and I'm in the process of getting certified (open water dives scheduled for Memorial Day weekend). I decided to get certified because this time next year I'll hopefully be studying abroad in Turks & Caicos in a marine ecology program!

Hi! Welcome to :sblogo:

Marine ecology sounds like a ton of fun, especially the part where you get to dive in Turks and Caicos!

Hi there,

Welcome aboard!!!-- You'll find lots of information here if you browse around ;-).

Sounds like a great major :) - good luck with your certification!

'm Looking for buddies for a fun ice-cold. Interested in diving in the lake and river? have great dive sites, unfortunately, only a few diving partners and internally.

katers,

Welcome to the 'Board! I live about 3 miles south of the city. Good luck on your certifications. Where and with who are you doing your OW class?

Welcome to the board, check out the ScubaChixs while it is still an open forum!! It's new, so workin out some kinks, but a great group of women!

Thanks guys!

krbailey: Splash Water Sports is running the class through Pitt, so I'm getting credit for scuba diving!:D Certification is going to be in Gilboa Quarry, pool sessions in one of Pitt's pools.

Greetings katers....

You will love Splash Water Sports! I am going to the Beneath The Sea Conference in New Jersey with 3 of their instructors tomorrow morning.....and probably with the one, "Andy", that teaches you at Pitt classes. We live just down the road from Splash & have made many a new friend at this Local Dive Shop. My wife & I just started diving there 10 months ago & they have taken us through OW, AOW, Nitrox, & Equipment Specialists courses. In fact we are scheduled to dive with you at Gilboa over Memorial Day weekend. So, Welcome to ScubaBoard.

Please note that SPLASH sponsors the "Under 50" "club" every few months. It's basically dinner at a local restaurant with a Professional Diving Speaker presenting on a cadre of subjects. It's a great opportunity to meet local divers in Pittsburgh that use SPLASH and get to know a bunch of really nice people that you will be diving with at Strawberry & Gilboa!!! Please plan on attending one of our get together's! It's basically for new divers to meet some other new and old divers in the area!

See you at the store, out at one of your Pitt scuba classes, or send me a private message.

Have a great day & good luck on your career! Please note that you are not the first SPLASH student to start this profession at their location. Have a good one!!!! You will definitely be pleased with all they offer.

Welcome to SB!! You'll have fun here I'm sure.

Good luck on your class and the cert process. Maybe one of these days we'll cross paths while diving.

Thanks guys!
